Leg_3jnt_01 breaks on build

good morning,
i am rigging a quadruped using two sets of leg_3jnt components.
occasionally, the ik on the front legs will break and bend the wrong way, as if the joints stretch sideways (although i have stretching turned off)
im using mgear 4.0.9.

if i delete the rig, reopen maya, and build the rig, it always builds correctly.

  1. is this a known issue? whats the fix?
  2. is there a way (in mgear or maya) to clear the cache as if youd re-open maya?

I’m not sure what the best thread is, but this has come up. It’s a limitation/bug of the springIK solver in Maya. You can get around it by luck, or by changing the solver in the guide settings.

Or if you read this thread, there are some other tricks you can explore by using multiple chains.
