Baking chain springs

Hey , i have a character with chain springs on the hair , how can i bake this without breaking the spring connections , i use the plot group to do a bake simulation , which works fine , but i want to go back to the live springs now but i can’t.

i am seeing “smart bake” being mentioned but i can’t fined that functionality anywhere, is this the answer?

i’ve tried mgear 2.3.0 and 2.6.1
