Hi, I am pretty new to Mgear and I have a couple questions. It would be amazing if anyone can help me.
I am working in Japanese gaming industry and they often have model+joint in one scene, reference that into another scene to rig the controllers on to. I am not sure if that’s also the case in other parts of the world as well, but that’s what I have to do.
Currently, my workflow is as follows:
- Create guide and name each joint in config
- Build, skin bind, skin weight
- Delete controllers from scene
- Reference the scene above into an empty scene
- Import the guide into the new scene
- Add namespace to every joint name in config (a_jnt >> reference:a_jnt)
- Turn on use existing joint option and build
As far as I can tell : can’t go in to naming rules so I’m just manually inputting them in config in step 1 since I’ll need it in step 6 anyway.
Is there a way I can achieve the same in a simpler and less time consuming way?
My second question would be about controller names, it would be nice if it can just follow the joint name but have the “jnt” changed to “ctl”. Currently I am using post script to change all the controller names to what I want. Is there a simpler way for this too?
Sorry for the long post, I appreciate any help.
I am unable to provide any data because of strict NDA.
