Can one control pole vector control placement if the joint bend is not possible?

Hi!
Is there a way to change pole vector control placement and IK leg behavior if the bend in joint placement is not possible? Or should I change the model itself?
I have a model with “anatomically correct” legs.

The desired joint placement should look something like this:

But in this case the pole vector will be behind the character.
I understand that pole vector created procedurally but is there a way to edit it somehow?

Yeah, you should change your model.

IK needs some bend to evaluate correctly. You can straighten your legs in animation. Then you’ll also have the benefit of soft IK to avoid knee popping.
