Difference between EPIC and normal components

Hi, I was wondering what is the main difference between EPIC and normal components. If an engine supports normal components, is it okay to use them, or EPIC is much more optimized for that? I noticed that a proper hierarchical structure can be made with both rigs, what is the advantage of the EPIC component?

The Mannequin and Metahuman components are designed to mimic the skeleton structure/naming-convention found in the Mannequin and Metahuman assets, so you can have animation/retargeting compatibility.

It doesn’t really have anything to do with engine support. I have used regular components in UE games.

Thank you @chrislesage for clearing my doubts. I thought that that axis orientation would be different but it is only related to position :grinning:
