hi! didnt manage to make that work either, but managed to get this done. You might find it helpful.

Thank you @Milio

I pasted the folder “CUSTOM_chain_spring_gravity_01” into “shifter classic components.” I Rebooted Maya 2024 but cannot see the “spring gravity component” inside the shifter window.
Could it be with the mGear version?
I am using 4.2.0

mmmmmm should be there!. Double check it is in the right folder, where mgear it is actually installed.

Im using mGear version: 4.2.7.

Reload components should be ok to see anything new in the shifter window.

You know what, sometimes I feel so stupid that I just get eaten by shame
Yes, I didn’t go to the install folder but to the folder where I downloaded mgear :\

As a punishment, I have to do ten push-ups
Thank you again

Hmm, still not there!
Could it be because I don’t have the mGear environment variable set?
If you are using variables, can you let me know what you set up?

Downloaded folder I pasted to mGear modules and renamed the folder as you did it.
PATH: maya\modules\mgear\scripts\mgear\shifter_classic_components\

oh noo! I don’t use any env variables. I have a few custom components and all popping up there just by copying the folder. Either at home or at work, all fine…strange!

You can do a simple test, by duplicating one of the components, like chain_FK_spline_01

Rename the folder with a different name> TEST_chain_FK_spline_01

Delete al precompiled open python folder. (pycache)

Edit the guide.py and paste the exactly same name in "TYPE = "

Reload components or open maya and you should see the new component there.
I assume the same with the one you pasted into that folder.

You explained everything so well that I repeated the whole process with ease!
But unfortunately, it didn’t work :frowning:
Strange because it’s not a complicated thing to do, simple and logical.
Only I didn’t try to reset the comp… I will try tomorrow.

Thank you for your effort!

That is pretty strange! not idea why to be honest.
Spring solver with gravity seems not compiled for all maya versions though.
I have very latest mGear installed, 4-4.2.9, the node shows up in maya 2024

but not in Maya 2022:

I’m about to release a new rig including spring node gravity and people animating with it will have errors depending the maya version they might have available! no ideal situation. 8-(

Hmm definitely doesn`t work after resetting the comp. I will try latest version of mGear

Thank you Milio
