I want to update mgear to the latest version. I need to uninstall the old one and reinstall the latest version. Is there a button to update mgear version online with one click
I don’t think there is a button. But I don’t use the drag and drop installer. Does that installer not clean up older versions?
If you use the Maya.env module path installation method, then upgrading, or switching versions is just a matter of changing that one line in your Maya.env file. I switch versions constantly to support different projects. I’ve got 12 versions “installed” right now on a production drive. And I just point to the one I want. (I actively use about 3 versions.)
For example, how I do it, in Maya.env, and I just change the version number in the bottom line:
MGEAR_SHIFTER_COMPONENT_PATH = /production/mgear/tools/mgearCustomModules
MGEAR_SHIFTER_CUSTOMSTEP_PATH = /production/mgear/build
MAYA_MODULE_PATH = /production/mgear/tools/mgear_4.0.7/release
