How to update rig with an animation

I have a character rigged with mgear, it’s animated so far, now I want to update it’s rig without needing for it to be reanimated and the animation is done without using animbit, how can I achieve it?

You need to save out the animation. Either export an FBX or use a tool like StudioLibrary to save it. Make sure to save a version of this animation file! Just in case.

Rebuild the rig with your desired update.

Start a new file, reference in the new rig, this will now be your new animation file.
Load the animation onto the referenced rig.

Now, future rig changes will get auto applied in your animation file.

I’ll +1 that recommendation!

You definitely want to be animating on a reference of the rig, not on the actual rig itself. Then updating the animation is sometimes as simple as replacing the reference. (Assuming your controls are still compatible.)

If the controls aren’t compatible (very different proportions, or completely different names) then you’ll need a better strategy, or a tool, or some way to constrain/retarget.
