Space Switching Over Range

Something that has arisen during our production testing of mGear, was a request to make the Space Switching function work over a range when necessary. I believe there were times where animators had gone back to an animation and needed to change it without losing the animation itself and it was tedious doing it on each frame.

I will likely try and find a short term solution by roughly making it work through the code when highlighting more than one frame on the timeline or something, open to suggestions. But figured you guys know the code better than me and also would save me having to apply said updates every time I update the company version of mGear if it became a built in feature.

That would be indeed very useful! Im relying on animbot for that at the moment…

Isn’t that the “Range switch” in your screenshot? I really thought it existed. Maybe it’s limited or is it just IK/FK?

If so, +1.

Range switch only works on IK/FK, To bake a space switch you need to choose ‘++ Space Transfer ++’ in the bottom of the specific coord space menu that you want to switch. It is a bit confusing because it looks like a separator or a menu title, and you can only bake one attribute on one control at a time, but that is where the range bake is.

wow! I can’t believe I never tried this out before! image

Oh wow, yes I just thought it was a menu title for when it’s loaded empty or something haha. Well then scratch what I said, it seems to already be there, I shall inform the animators and give it a try myself. Thank you for pointing that out!
