Hi, I am using whip control to create some tentacle rig and was wondering how to fix the improper orientation of the joint. The tentacle is not perfectly straight, but it has some predefined shape. Do you know how I can solve this issue?
Ideally when rigging, you want the model to be in a neutral relaxed state. It’s best to rig a tentacle that’s straight or with a very slight bend to it in only 1 axis. That way aligning the bones in the same orientation is trivial, and the skin deformation looks best.
I see you say there’s a predefined shape. You could skin it to a simple joint chain, bend it straight, delete history, massage the mesh where you bent it, delete history again, then rig it easily from there.
